The Opportunity. The Treasurer is a key strategic partner to the CFO and Executive Leadership team, providing leadership and stewardship of the Bank’s balance sheet to ensure financial resilience, sustainability and regulatory confidence.
The role holds enterprise‑level accountability for liquidity management, funding and borrowing strategies, the liquid investment portfolio, interest rate risk and capital position of the Bank. The Treasurer also supports the CFO in maintaining strong, credible relationships with key external stakeholders, including investors, credit rating agencies and APRA.
This is a senior leadership role combining strategic insight, strong governance and disciplined execution, with a clear focus on balance sheet optimisation, risk management and long‑term sustainability for the benefit of current and future members.
The role is preferably based in Melbourne, with Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide applicants also considered.
Key responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Bank’s balance sheet, including liquidity, funding, interest rate risk, capital and the investment portfolio, in line with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
Develop and execute funding and capital strategies, including wholesale funding, securitisation programs and ICAAP, ensuring ongoing compliance with APRA requirements.
Provide insight and advice to the CFO and Asset, Liability and Liquidity Committee (ALLC) to support informed balance sheet and risk decisions.
Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including credit rating agencies, investors, funders and regulators, supporting the Bank’s credit rating and market access.
Oversee treasury execution and governance, including treasury transactions, settlement activities, securitisation vehicles, brokered deposits and treasury systems.
Ensure strong treasury controls, reporting, policies and operating discipline across all treasury activities.
About you. You’re an experienced treasury leader with strong judgement, deep technical expertise and the ability to provide confident, strategic advice in a regulated banking environment. You balance risk discipline with commercial acumen and thrive partnering with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
You will bring:
10+ years’ experience in financial institution a treasury function, with proven experience in RMBS issuance and other wholesale funding structures.
Demonstrated accountability for balance sheet outcomes within a financial institution.
Experience supporting senior executives in engagements with regulators, investors and rating agencies.
Eligibility and capability to act as a Responsible Manager under the Bank’s AFSL (deal in a financial product).
Relevant tertiary qualification or industry accreditation.

Deep understanding of liquidity, capital, IRRBB and funding risk management.
Well‑developed governance and reporting capability, underpinned by strong data quality and controls.

Strong stakeholder influence and the credibility to operate at executive and Board‑adjacent levels.
