What We Are Looking For
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bushfire Risk Mitigation Officer to join our Open Space & Environment team. You'll play a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing Council's Bushfire Mitigation Strategy and planning operational activities.
What Your Day Will Look Like
* Utilising both internal and external resources to deliver prescribed burn plans
* Analysing fire history and relevant data and maintaining mapping systems
* Assisting with the development and implementation of disaster management plans
* Engaging with landowners, traditional owners and other relevant parties
* Responding to customer requests and providing sound technical advice
What You'll Need For Success
* Experience in planning and delivering fire management programs and the ability to organise work schedules and resource requirements
* Strong knowledge of fire ecology, natural area management and conservation operations
* Ability to engage with diverse audiences
* Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
* Valid class C drivers licence
What's Nice To Have
* Degree qualification (AQF 7) in environmental science, fire ecology, natural resource management or similar
* Level 3 Public Safety (Firefighter)
