Position Title: CNC MachinistLocation: Port Kembla, NSW, AustraliaEmployment Type:Full-timeReports to: Production Manager
Position Overview:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision components according to technical specifications.
This role involves interpreting technical drawings and ensuring high-quality output while adhering to safety and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation:
Set up CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and routers, according to production specifications.
Operate CNC machines to produce high-quality parts within specified tolerances.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to ensure adherence to specifications.
Identify and troubleshoot any issues with machine performance or product quality.
Programming:
Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to create CNC programs.
Make adjustments to programs as necessary to improve efficiency and product quality.
FANUC interface
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
Report any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel promptly.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of production outputs, quality checks, and machine maintenance.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
Trade qualification in machining or relevant field (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade preferred).
Proven experience operating CNC machines in a heavy industrymanufacturing environment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and CAD files.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Good communication skills and a commitment to safety.
The role typically involves working in a manufacturing workshop environment.
The machinist may be required to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, depending on production needs.
