The Opportunity

Due to a long, strong, and ongoing pipeline of work we are urgently seeking enthusiastic and motivated applicants for the position of qualified Welder within our Queensland Joii Trades team who will be required to work on a wide range of projects.

Role Purpose

This aluminium welder position involves using various techniques, like MIG and TIG welding, to join aluminium parts according to specifications and blueprints. They are responsible for preparing materials, inspecting welds, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. This role often requires physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to work in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities

* Knowledge and experience: Fabricating mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium components, products, and structures with MIG and TIG welding.
* Material Preparation: Cutting, grinding, and preparing aluminium materials for welding.
* Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operating and maintaining welding machines and equipment, including changing parts and ensuring proper functioning.
* Inspection and Quality Control: Inspecting welds for quality, adherence to safety regulations, and dimensional accuracy.
* Safety Compliance: Following all safety procedures and guidelines related to welding and material handling.
* Documentation: Maintaining records of work performed and materials used.
* Collaboration: Working with other welders, fabricators, and engineers to understand project requirements and ensure successful completion.
* Material Handling: Moving and storing finished products as needed.

Essential Skills Needed

* Trade Certificate in Welding and/or 3+ years' experience in welding.
* Expertise knowledge of fabricating a variety of components, products, or structures (not just production welding).
* Thorough understanding of aluminium properties and welding characteristics.
* Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
* Physical Stamina – Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in various positions.
* Physical Dexterity – Ability to handle tools and materials with precision.
* Supply & maintain own commercial grade tools; a tool maintenance allowance is included in the salary package.
* Provide own vehicle to get yourself and your tools to site.
* Maintain current driver's license (manual preferred).

* Demonstrates a positive, willingness to learn and ability to follow directions from managers requirements.
* Hard working and reliable.
* Attention to detail and able to work to deadlines.

Additional Information

Valid Qualification means: Welder (First Class) - ANZSCO Skill Level 3: the occupation requires a high level of skill and expertise, typically associated with AQF Certificate III and at least two years of on‐the‐job training or an AQF Certificate IV.

Tasks Include

* Manufacturing items from start to finish, including measuring, marking out, cutting, deburring, tack together, welding, grinding and finishing.
* Knowledge in setting welding machines for different materials and weld joints.
* Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine settings.
* Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies.
* Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
* Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required.
* Problem‐Solving: Identifying and addressing issues related to welding or material preparation.
* Maintain a high standard of workmanship and precision.
* Log accurate records/documentation associated with your work as required.
* Other duties as directed.
