Consultant Botanist

This role will be based in our Melbourne or Geelong office, supporting projects primarily across Victoria. Some interstate travel may be required.
EHP has recently joined Fyfe, and with a strong pipeline of new projects, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Botanist. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their career while contributing practical, sustainable, and innovative environmental solutions to complex development and land management challenges.

What you'll be doing
* Deliver sustainable and innovative solutions to complex development and environmental management challenges
* Undertake detailed botanical field surveys and plant identification
* Design and manage ecological field investigations
* Prepare high-quality ecological reports, including impact assessments, targeted significant species surveys, policy documents, and Conservation Management Plans
* Communicate clearly with clients, regulators, and project teams, both verbally and in writing
* Build strong client relationships and contribute to new project opportunities
About you
* A tertiary qualification in environmental science, botany, ecology, natural resource management, or a related discipline
* 2–5 years experience conducting field-based botanical surveys, ideally in ecological consulting
* VQA accreditation
* Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and policy, including the EPBC Act and Victorian native vegetation guidelines
* Proven experience preparing ecological reports and management plans
* Ability to manage projects and adapt quickly
* Professional, organised, and detail-focused
* Confident communicator with strong technical writing skills
* High level of computer literacy
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Comfortable working flexible hours during field programs
* Willing to travel to field locations across Australia
* Current Victorian drivers licence
* Physically able to work outdoors in field conditions
