Primary objective
You will support the coordination and delivery of system‑wide career development, capability building and professional
learning initiatives across the employee journey. You will provide high‑quality project, research and analytical support to
ensure programs and activities are well‑governed, evidence‑informed and aligned with departmental workforce priorities.
Context statement
Career Development, within the School Leadership, Culture and Care team, manages system‑wide initiatives that build
workforce capability. The work unit coordinates orientation for new staff, capability pathways, leadership and aspirant
programs, professional learning alignment and performance development frameworks. This position supports these
functions by coordinating project activities, undertaking analysis and assisting with the development of tools and resources
that strengthen capability development across the education workforce.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support project planning, coordination, monitoring and reporting for career development, capability and professional
learning initiatives across the employee journey.
2. Research, analyse and interpret information and data to inform program activities, evaluation and continuous
improvement.
1. Prepare clear, well‑structured ministerial and executive briefs, reports, correspondence and other documentation to
support effective decision making.
1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools, corporate areas and NT Government partners to
support consultation, information sharing and implementation.
1. Contribute to the development and maintenance of tools, resources and guidance that support capability development,
professional learning and performance frameworks across the system.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience supporting projects or programs, including assisting with planning, coordination, procurement, monitoring,
reporting and documentation in an education or large, complex or geographically diverse organisation.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and well‑structured briefs,
reports and correspondence for different audiences.
3. Strong analytical and organisational skills, including the ability to interpret information and data, contribute to evaluation
and improvement activities, and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
4. Well‑developed stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate
with people from diverse cultural and geographic contexts.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team, using judgement, initiative and a
solutions‑focused approach to support delivery of strategic tasks and projects.
Desirable
1. Qualifications or formal training in project management, capability development, adult learning, organisational
development or a related field.
