Position Details
Lead a team who deliver offender services and programs within the prison.
Ongoing, full-time opportunity.
COG 4: $107,737 - $131,457 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit
Located at Maldon, Tarrengower Prison is a Minimum Security Prison for women.
The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour.
Tarrengower Prison provides contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Offender Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of offender management across the prison.
The role leads the Offender Services team to facilitate and deliver quality offender management programs that target offending behaviour and promote interpersonal growth and personal responsibility among prisoners.
The Offender Services Manager oversees the delivery of transitional support, specialist offending behaviour programs, disability services, recreational programs, Aboriginal wellbeing and industries programs including oversight of farm operations and community work.
Working closely with the Custodial and Vocational teams on site, the Offender Services Manager drives contemporary correctional practice across the prison to achieve key service delivery outcomes.
The role is an interface between the prison and Community Correctional Services and works with a diverse range of external partners and stakeholders to achieve desired offender management outcomes.
As a member of the Tarrengower Leadership Team, the Offender Services Manager will manage and deliver projects and local initiatives in support of Corrections Victoria's key priorities and the achievement of the Tarrengower Business Plan.
The role involves direct prisoner contact and may include weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise and manage the offender management teams within the prison, including the provision of 1:1 supervision; all aspects of performance management and the provision of professional development.
Lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of offender and vocational programs.
As a member of the Leadership Team, contribute directly to all aspects of the performance of the prison, partnering effectively with other managers as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated experience in building and leading a multidisciplinary team to achieve best outcomes, championing a trauma-informed approach.
Experience in the delivery of contemporary offender management programs/interventions in a correctional context.
Demonstrated experience in the design, development and evaluation of development programs and business improvements.
Tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline or demonstrated skills and experience in human services, welfare practice or related fields is highly desirable.
Experience in program development and evaluation is highly desirable.
