Job Description
As a Sustainability Professional, you will have the unique opportunity to work on a landmark project in the Asia Pacific region. This role involves owning all aspects of sustainability, particularly social and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key community stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and transparent engagement.
2. Manage identified social impacts and risks, implementing mitigation actions as needed.
3. Implement the Stakeholder Management Plan, overseeing ongoing engagement with affected communities.
4. Manage the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM), ensuring effective communication and resolution.
5. Lead the execution of the Community Development Plan, working collaboratively with local communities and NGOs.
6. Conduct socio-economic surveys and needs assessments to inform community investment priorities.
7. Ensure community development activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, and culturally appropriate.
8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of community development programs, reporting outcomes to senior management and stakeholders.
9. Develop and implement the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) compliant IFC Performance Standard 3.
10. Oversee environmental monitoring programs for aspects including air quality, noise, waste, biodiversity, and land use.
11. Manage internal and external environmental reporting obligations, maintaining transparency and compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Social Development, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
* Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental and social performance in large-scale infrastructure or extractives (mining, oil & gas, energy).
* Familiarity with complex regulatory settings and international standards such as the IFC Performance Standards. Experience working with complex tribal communities.
