Technical Leadership Role for Infrastructure and Platform Operations
Cabinets by Computer is a multi-award-winning team behind various CADCAM solutions. Our platforms are revolutionising how cabinets are ordered, visualised and produced online.
This role plays a key part in supporting the company's growth. As an Infrastructure and Platform Operations Manager, you will be responsible for keeping systems healthy, resilient and ready for growth.
This is a technical leadership role blending AWS infrastructure expertise, platform operations, process improvement, and people leadership. You will work closely with the Head of Software to modernise and strengthen platforms while supporting the software team to work more effectively.
This role oversees the infrastructure foundation powering all products, shapes operational standards, and supports people so the whole team can move faster with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the management and improvement of AWS environments (EC2, RDS, load balancing, networking, CloudWatch).
* Strengthen system reliability, uptime and scalability across all products.
* Identify and address bottlenecks, risks and ageing infrastructure.
* Optimise RDS performance, indexing and query patterns for meaningful gains.
* Improve monitoring, alerts and observability so issues are visible early.
* Help prepare for new markets through infrastructure stability and growth planning.
Operational Excellence:
Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployments and environment consistency.
Build internal tooling, scripts and automations that help the team ship faster.
Standardise infrastructure processes, documentation and runbooks.
Highlight performance risks or concerns in the platform and work with the team to resolve them.
Application-Adjacent Support:
Become familiar with the PHP-based stack to investigate issues from both infrastructure and application sides.
Work with developers to diagnose slowdowns, errors or inefficiencies.
Provide guidance on best practice for performance, architecture and system health.
Leadership and People Management:
Support and coach developers and QA to work more effectively.
Foster a friendly, professional and approachable team environment.
Help manage workload balance, communication and delivery expectations.
Bring structure, clarity and confidence to the software function.
Assist with onboarding new team members and strengthening team culture.
Work closely with Product, Support and Customer Success to ensure a smooth flow of priorities and communication.
Help spot potential issues early before they impact clients.
Provide clear updates to leadership on infrastructure health, risks and improvements.
Requirements:
* Strong AWS expertise (5 years+ ideally) and enthusiasm for improving infrastructure rather than just maintaining it.
* Comfort with PHP or experience supporting PHP-based systems.
* Practical experience supporting PHP applications in production environments.
* Enjoy diagnosing platform performance issues, finding root causes and recommending improvements.
* Communicate clearly and calmly, even when dealing with production issues.
