About the Role
We're seeking a skilled bookkeeper who thrives in variety and autonomy. You'll work closely with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to our practice's smooth operation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
* Prepare and lodge BAS/IAS in compliance with ATO requirements.
* Oversee payroll, STP, and superannuation obligations.
* Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
* Review work prepared by junior bookkeepers and provide guidance.
* Prepare management reports and assist with cashflow forecasting.
* Communicate directly with clients, accountants, and the ATO.
* Contribute to process improvements and team collaboration.
Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years' bookkeeping experience (practice experience preferred).
* Registered BAS Agent (or working towards registration).
* Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and software (e.g. MYOB, QuickBooks, Xero).
* Strong knowledge of GST, payroll, and compliance requirements.
* Excellent communication skills – able to explain numbers clearly to clients.
* Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities.
* A proactive team player with leadership qualities.
* Familiarity with small business operations and challenges.
* Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping) or equivalent experience.
