Industrial Documentor
Your Role
We're looking for a skilled and detail-driven Industrial Documentor to join our growing national practice. This is a key role within the studio, supporting the delivery of large-scale, complex projects across a diverse range of sectors. You'll work closely with architects, clients, consultants and builders to produce clear, coordinated and high-quality documentation that brings projects to life.
You'll play an integral part in shaping design and documentation outcomes, coordinating consultants and ensuring project deliverables are issued accurately, efficiently and to a high standard. Alongside your technical contribution, you'll support and mentor Graduate and Student Documentors, sharing knowledge, guiding best practice and role-modelling Watson Young's values.
We are ideally looking for a full-time candidate, but we are open to flexible arrangements for the right person. Please share your preferences in your application.
Your Responsibilities
Deliver documentation packages and project tasks on brief, on time, and on budget.
Liaise with Senior Architects, Project Leaders, and Associates to provide clear communication and regular project updates.
Collaborate with project consultants and manage documentation timelines.
Ensure internal QA standards are met before documents are issued.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, resolving issues proactively.
Support Documentor Graduates or Students on smaller tasks when required.
Actively contribute to continuous improvement through project debriefs, learning sessions, and knowledge sharing.
About You
Advanced knowledge of architectural documentation practice and theory.
Strong Revit skills, with experience across concept design, design development, and construction documentation.
Sound knowledge of NCC (BCA & Australian Standards).
Skilled in visual communication including sketches, layouts, detail drawings, and presentations.
Proficiency in SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office suite.
Clear and professional communication style, with proven ability to build strong client and team relationships.
Growth mindset, proactive and self-motivated with excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
Suitable tertiary qualification with relevant years of industry experience.
