This role will be Brisbane based but require travel to support the geographically dispersed locations of their facilities, offices and teams.The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee the financial management of the company, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and the effective management of financial risks. The CFO will also be responsible for overseeing legal commercial agreements, information technology, risk management, and sustainability initiatives. The CFO will work closely with the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer to position the businesses to be the most trusted, reliable, world class seed businesses in Australasia.Key elements of the role include:Review and enhance financial policies together with Board approval and compliance.Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Includes annual statutory audit on a timely basis with an unqualified opinion outcome.Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Manage cash flow, investments, and financial planning.Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.Control costs and maintain margins across the organisation. Continuously look for opportunities to maximise profitability and improve efficiency of operations.Assist with capital expenditure proposals and reporting post approval.Review and maintain an overall tax efficient structure for the broader Family Group.General commercial support and active member of ANZ Lead Team.Provide general sound and trusted commercial advice on all business matters.An active member of the Lead Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, delivery and continuous improvement.Active risk register and mitigations employed and Approved ESG actions implemented.Assist the Lead Team and Risk & Sustainability Manager to establish and maintain a robust risk management framework to protect reputation, ability to supply and assets of the ANZ group.Assist the Risk & Sustainability Manager to maintain appropriate insurance programmes.Assist the Risk & Sustainability Manager to drive the ANZ group’s sustainability agenda and ensuring that environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles as approved by the Board are integrated into the business strategy.Informed Property Advisory Board meetings and Commercial lease outcomes.Support the Property investment businesses with financial advice and needs including reporting, cashflow planning, tax and legal compliance.Ensure appropriateness and currency of lease agreements.Work alongside the Chief Operating Officer to understand and reconcile seed business needs with those of the property businesses to provide a win / win outcome.Compliance with contractual obligations.Negotiate and manage (or assist fellow staff) legal commercial agreements with suppliers, customers, and partners.Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and mitigate legal risks.Collaborate with legal counsel to address any legal issues that arise.Skills, experience and personal attributes:Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA).Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably in the agricultural or related industry – food processing, FMCG, Pharmaceutical production or manufacturing.Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.Experience in managing legal commercial agreements, information technology, risk management, and sustainability initiatives.Proven track record of managing large-scale operations and driving business growth.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.ERP system experience, ideally with Microsoft D365.Able and willing to travel extensively across Australia and New Zealand (and potentially further afield).Computer literate with experience in core Microsoft office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI reporting.Strong strategic capabilities coupled with superior business acumen and a customer focused approach.Exceptional communication and presentation skills across all mediums.Ability to build strong positive working relationships, both internally and externally. A genuine team player.Problem-solving orientation and ability to think critically under pressure.Some travel through ANZ will be required in year one.
