Choofas Smokehouse & Seafood is a long-established restaurant and bar with a unique vibe located in the heart of Coolangatta QLD, offering a combination of locally sourced Fresh and Cooked Seafood, American Style BBQ Meats, Ribs, Wings, Chicken, Burgers and Salads.
One of our specialties is Australian Angus and Wagyu Steaks.
We have a casual position available for a specialist grill chef/Sous chef experienced with Chargrilled Steaks and Seafood to join our kitchen team.
Working with our new Head Chef, have the satisfaction of knowing you can make a difference to the long term success of the business.
Role and Responsibilities
Preparation, cooking and presentation of meals in a timely, consistent and qualified manner.
Monitor plate presentation and portion sizes to ensure quality and consistency.
Food ordering and stocking the kitchen, ensuring inventory of perishables and supplies are at minimum levels, but sufficient to meet forecasted business levels.
Ensure prep levels are maintained to appropriate levels for service.
Monitor wastage whilst maintaining the highest quality standards.
Setup and pack down of the kitchen, ensuring the highest quality of hygiene standards.
Compliance with work safe and work place health and safety procedures.
Communicate with all colleagues and suppliers in a respectful, timely and respectful manner.
Be part of a committed team of people in a fast-paced kitchen providing back-up support to all positions as required.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 2 years experience in a comparable business in a busy kitchen.
Ability to work in Australia without any restrictions.
Must be available to work on weekdays, weekends and some public holiday.
Current certification in food safety and handling, as required under the QLD Food Safety Supervisor guidelines or attain certification within 30 days of employment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Possess a positive can do attitude whilst at times working in a high pressure setting.
High standard of personal presentation as well as moral and ethical standards, encouraging the same of others.
