**Payroll Officer**
Full Time | Melbourne
**Our Client seeks an experienced Payroll Officer to join their small but dynamic team on a permanent basis.**
The Payroll Officer will work as part of a team responsible for providing professional and efficient Payroll Operation services to support key people functions, strategic goals, and directions. This position is responsible for the fortnightly payroll processing for Approx. 550 employees.
The role also involves providing portfolio wide advice on entitlements and remuneration issues.
**Role Description**
Our client is growing and looking for an experienced person to join them on a permanent basis.
- Responsible for the administration of operational payroll day to day tasks that leads up to fortnightly pays. Payroll will be performed every fortnight in the form of main and mini pay run for approx.550 employees based on Victoria Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2020.
- Processing of the fortnightly payroll and undertake the more complex transactions relating to employment conditions and benefits.
- Update and maintaining associated personnel and payroll records using TRIM. Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Identify and prepare documentation regarding salary overpayments and recovery.
- Impart well-researched, accurate and meaningful advice to employees and managers on employment conditions and benefits.
- Provide quality customer service through effective communication, offering timely responses to a range of queries and flexible problem solving.
- Assist managers and employees to better understand employment conditions and benefits and relevant payroll matters.
- Support the Senior Payroll Officer to ensure payroll production and outputs meet timelines.
- Assist in regularly contributing to developing better systems and practices across payroll.

**Who we're looking for**
We are looking for a highly motivated person who thrives on being challenged and can learn and adapt. To be considered for this role, you must have worked in a busy payroll team - ideally within Victorian State Government and have demonstrated experience in complex payroll calculations.
- Demonstrated experience in payroll processing (Chris21 is desirable), and the ability to enter, modify and extract data accurately to assist with the management of client data.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge of government processes.
- Proven ability in dealing in a dynamic, high volume, complex transactional payroll environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of key payroll principles and processes
- Strong customer service skills to resolve sensitive and competing payroll enquiries while delivering a high level and volume of service.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret conditions of employment that applies to an employee to correctly pay employees.
- You are a collaborative team member, fostering an open and honest environment where ideas and views are discussed freely.
- You possess a keen attention to detail and show high accuracy in data entry.
