We support mining, water treatment and utilities with electrical manufacture and overhauls. With sites in Mackay, Newcastle, Brisbane and the Bowan Basin, we're a close-knit team of ~65 people focused on high-quality delivery and continual improvement.
Role summary
We're seeking a reliable Payroll Administrator to join our Mackay based team. You will be responsible for payroll with monthly and fortnightly pay cycles, maintain accurate payroll records, ensure legislative compliance, respond to employee enquiries and support payroll reporting and general finance tasks.
Key responsibilities
* Process fortnightly and monthly payroll accurately and on time in line with awards, enterprise agreements and company policy
* Maintain payroll records, timesheets and leave balances; ensure legislative compliance
* Respond promptly to employee queries about pay, leave and entitlements
* Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll reconciliations
* Support employee administration tasks, site inductions and onboarding as required
* Carry out other duties as directed by business directors
Skills and experience
* Previous payroll administration experience (fortnightly and monthly cycles)
* Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and payroll accounting principles
* Proficiency with payroll/accounting software (Xero)
* High attention to detail, strong time management and confidentiality with payroll data
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with employees and stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Certificate/Diploma in Accounting or Bookkeeping, or equivalent qualification
