Public Service Representatives (PSRs) are full time members of Parole Board Queensland with expertise or experience in the supervision or rehabilitation of offenders, nominated for the appointment term by the Commissioner. PSRs represent Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) on Board meetings, responsible for providing high level advice to the Board on relevant legislation and QCS' offender management policy, frameworks, and practice directives, relevant to Board matters in the interests of community safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake demanding and challenging negotiations on behalf of the Agency and represent the Agency's views on particular offender issues to the PBQ. Including presentation of relevant, contemporary evidence-based risk assessment that aligns with the strategic outcomes leading to robust levels of community safety.
* Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Agency's strategic objectives, parole board responsibilities and functions and relevant legislation and judicial review processes.
* Prepare briefings, reports, submissions and other correspondence for senior stakeholders on a range of complex and confidential parole board issues and decisions.
* Analyse risk or improvement prospect, research multiple sources of information including legislative and policy changes, to generate options and solutions and provide well-informed evidence-based recommendations to drive quality board decision making.
* Liaise with Queensland Police Service, QCS Intelligence Group and other QCS operational staff and facilitate the provision of sensitive and protected information to the PBQ relevant to individual prisoner files including clarifying reports, obtaining further information on prisoner issues as required from staff in operational areas of QCS and following up on intelligence reports as necessary.
* Provide expert advice to the PBQ in relation to QCS policy, procedure and practice on issues relating to the management of offenders and statutory requirements when relevant in its decision making.
