Job Description
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Practitioner-Youth Justice Support.
This role involves providing intensive mentoring and support to young people aged 10-17 years who have been involved in the youth justice system and held in youth detention. Our work spans both detention and community settings, with the aim of reducing reoffending and building sustainable futures.
The service focuses on supporting young people as they transition back into community life, including pathways to stability, education, and employment. This includes developing and implementing individual support plans with Youth Justice and other stakeholders.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Drive quality program planning and implementation across sites
* Provide coaching and support to colleagues, strengthening practice capability
* Build and sustain strong partnerships with internal teams, government agencies, community Elders, and service providers
* Hold a small client caseload, applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice
* Oversee case management, monitoring and evaluation, and risk management processes
* Contribute to team cohesion and staff development through training, debriefs, and reflective supervision
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people involved in the justice system
* Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
* Demonstrated ability to coach staff, lead program quality, and manage stakeholder relationships
* Excellent communication and reporting skills
* Qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent significant experience)
* A current Driver's Licence, ability to get a police check, and a current Working with Children Check
