The Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Harvester Operator / Tradesperson to join our team in a full-time position. This is a unique dual-role opportunity for a suitable candidate who is able to work across both the crushing season and maintenance season.
During the crushing season, you will operate harvesting equipment to support safe and efficient cane harvesting operations. Outside of the season, you will transition into a farm hand role, assisting with general farm and equipment maintenance, repairs, and preparation for the next season. This role would suit someone with mechanical aptitude who is interested in developing their trade skills.
The successful candidate will commence as soon as a suitable person is identified.
Key Responsibilities
Crushing Season (Harvester Operator)
* Operate cane harvesters safely and efficiently.
* Monitor equipment performance and report faults or issues.
* Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery.
* Follow all safety, operational, and environmental procedures.
Maintenance Season (Tradesperson)
* Assist with general farm and equipment maintenance.
* Support repairs, servicing, and pre-season preparation of machinery.
* Carry out manual labour tasks as required.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
* Assist with maintenance, servicing, and repairs of harvesters and farm machinery.
* Support overhaul and pre-season preparation of equipment.
* Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
* Maintain workshop and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:
* Experience operating agricultural machinery (harvester experience highly regarded).
* Mechanical aptitude or trade-related experience (fitting, diesel, or similar highly regarded).
* A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
* Ability to work long hours and shifts during the crushing season.
* Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands-on maintenance work.
* A reliable, self-motivated attitude and strong work ethic.
* Current driver's licence (relevant machinery tickets or licences an advantage).
