About the role


Acting as a central connection point, the role supports the Director and leadership team to deliver key Finance priorities by aligning activities, strengthening operational practices, and enabling collaboration across teams.

Working in a fast-moving and complex environment, you will lead and support strategic initiatives, coordinate high-level communications and advice, and help maintain a clear operational rhythm across the directorate. You will also play a key role in identifying emerging issues, improving ways of working, and ensuring priorities are delivered in a cohesive and well-managed way.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the centre of operations, bringing structure to complexity, and influencing outcomes through strong relationships, sound judgement and proactive problem solving.

About you

You are a highly organised and proactive professional who enjoys working at the centre of complex environments, bringing clarity, coordination and momentum to competing priorities. You are comfortable working with senior leaders and are trusted to exercise judgement, discretion and initiative.

You will bring:

* Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing briefings and executive correspondence
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes
* Experience supporting senior leadership in complex or fast-paced environments
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate and manage emerging issues
* High attention to detail and sound professional judgement
* A continuous improvement mindset with experience strengthening processes and ways of working

Key knowledge and experience
* Demonstrated experience in project design, development and implementation in government agencies or commercial enterprises
* Demonstrated experience providing strategic, accurate, timely advice and information to senior stakeholders
* Demonstrated experience in the development of high-quality reports, workflows, procedures and delivery of complex projects
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role
* Qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
