Foundedin1985, Sunshine Bay Public School is located on the South Coast of NSW, 5kms from the regionaltown centre of Batemans Bay. Sunshine Bay Public School is a proud public education school that is committed to inspiring and supporting students in reaching their full potential, in a caring and dynamic learning environment that promotes excellence. It is an inclusive school, welcoming a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and providing a well-supported special education setting. Sunshine Bay Public School is a small school where each student is known, supported and valued - there are currently around 190 students enrolled at the school of which 55 students identify as Aboriginal. Students are encouraged through a range of extra-curricular activities to enhance their talents and skills. At Sunshine Bay Public School every student is allowed to shine.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a range of disabilities including autism, mild and moderate intellectual disability, and complex mental health, sensory and behavioural needs.
* Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum using explicit teaching practices, and to collaboratively develop, implement and monitor personalised learning and support plans that are responsive to the individual learning, wellbeing and developmental goals of students.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in using a range of classroom management and wellbeing approaches to cater for the communication, sensory, social and emotional needs of students in a positive and inclusive environment.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies, and members of the wider community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
