OVERVIEW
Our Federal Government client is currently seeking an experienced Data Analyst and a Data Engineer to join their team at the APS5/6 level. The level will be determined based on skills and experience. Within the Data Analyst role you will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analysing data, as well as translating your analysis into reports and dashboards. The Data Engineer will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading data from the existing data infrastructure to a cloud-based data infrastructure.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Analyst’s duties and tasks include:
* Providing timely, quality data support and services across the agency, including analysing, interpreting, and undertaking quality assurance of data and datasets.
* Preparing reports, briefs, and other documents on your analysis to a high standard for a varied audience.
* Providing technical advice and expertise on data analytics issues, methods, and tools.
* Assist in the design and implementation of principles and techniques for collecting, organising, interpreting, and presenting quantifiable data, and the production of statistical reports and analyses.
* Contribute to good documentation practices that enable replicable processes for analysis, evaluation, monitoring, and quality improvement.
* Maintain and develop technical knowledge through learning and development activities.
* Contributing to the achievement of organisational objectives, business, and operational plans.
The Data Engineer’s duties and tasks include:
* Drive the cleansing, merging and management of data from various internal and external sources, overseeing the automation and documentation of tasks.
* Perform data extraction and manipulation based on user requirements and specifications.
* Design and develop end-to-end optimised data pipelines and data transformation to be used in business intelligence and data analytics.
* Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
* Sound technical skills, including proficiency with or ability to learn various programming software and data management products, such as Visual Studio/SQL Server, Python, R and Power BI.
* Strong communication, liaison and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience in building productive working relationships to understand client needs and ensure outputs meet their expectations when sharing, collation and reporting of data.
* Strong organisational conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, including strong attention to detail and the ability to develop and document consistent processes.
* Good written skills, with the ability to translate findings from analysis to written reports for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Data Analyst
* Expertise across a range of data analytics algorithms and tools and a detailed understanding of data analysis, translation, and visualisation concepts.
* Strong machine learning using Python or R for predictions of outcomes such as text classification.
Data Engineer
* Demonstrated expertise in ETL and analysing complex data sets in cloud-based environment, and experience in developing complex data sets to meet business requirements.
