National Underwriting Performance Manager

About the Opportunity
Prevail is seeking a National Underwriting & Performance Manager, a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing our underwriting strategy across High Net Worth, Lifestyle & Leisure, and Specialty portfolios. You will work alongside the CEO and Group Chief Actuarial, steer product mix, pricing strategy, underwriting frameworks, and portfolio governance to deliver strong return on capital and sustainable growth for our insurer partners. This role leads and develops our National Product Leads, ensuring our underwriting teams have the structure, capability, sophistication, and agility needed to compete and win in a modern MGA environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead Prevail's national underwriting strategy across High Net Worth, Lifestyle & Leisure, and Specialty portfolios, ensuring strong alignment to insurer risk appetite and commercial objectives.
* Drive portfolio performance and profitability using data‐led insights to adjust pricing, risk selection, retention and distribution levers to maximise sustainable growth.
* Act as the strategic underwriting face to insurer partners, building trust through transparent reporting, technical clarity and strong portfolio stewardship.
* Provide senior technical oversight, making decisions on complex or non‐standard risks and guiding Product Leads through high‐value or unusual submissions.
* Strengthen underwriting governance by maintaining consistent frameworks, guidelines, quality assurance and audit processes across all product lines.
* Develop and uplift team capability through coaching, clear expectations and building future‐ready underwriting structures that leverage digital enablement.
Skills and Qualifications
* Significant experience in underwriting or insurance operations with proven leadership across complex or high‐value portfolios.
* Deep technical underwriting capability, including pricing fundamentals, risk assessment, portfolio management and strong commercial judgement.
* Experience in high net worth or specialised personal lines, with confidence navigating bespoke or non‐standard risks.
* Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills for effective engagement with brokers, insurer partners and senior leadership.
* Demonstrated ability to analyse portfolio trends, translate data into insights and convert findings into strategic actions.
* A leadership style grounded in coaching, accountability and capability uplift, with experience supporting succession pathways.
