HII is seeking a Shift Test Engineer to join the team in Stirling, Western Australia or Canberra, ACT. The Shift Test Engineer will be responsible for conducting, overseeing, and analyzing testing operations in a nuclear facility. This role ensures adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards while troubleshooting issues and maintaining system integrity during shift operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and oversee tests related to nuclear systems, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
- Maintain adherence to all nuclear safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Evaluate test results, document findings, and provide technical recommendations for process improvements.
- Oversee the performance of testing equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper functionality.
- Work closely with engineering teams, operators, and regulatory personnel to ensure smooth testing operations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation of testing procedures and results.
- Assist in training new engineers and technicians on testing protocols and safety standards.
What you need to have:
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- 8+ years of experience in testing, troubleshooting, or commissioning within a nuclear facility or a highly regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear power systems, test engineering principles, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in data acquisition, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical data.
- Solid problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
- Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills.
- Master’s degree in relevant fields.
- Relevant nuclear industry certifications (such as NQA-1 or NRC qualifications).
- Experience with nuclear reactors, radiation monitoring systems, fluid dynamics, and thermal hydraulics.
