Area Business Manager – Multi-site Retail Leader

HMB Barbers is looking for a commercially sharp Area Business Manager to lead performance across multiple stores. This is a hands-on, outcomes-driven leadership role focused on sales growth, wage efficiency, retail product performance, customer experience, and consistent execution of brand standards.
You'll lead a disciplined weekly performance rhythm, coach and develop Store Leaders, and drive measurable improvement—not just talk about it.
What you'll be responsible for
* Own area commercial performance: sales, profitability, growth and key levers
* Identify underperformance early and lead structured turnaround plans with measurable outcomes
* Lead, coach and hold Store Leaders and staff accountable for standards, culture and results
* Drive labour productivity and wage discipline through roster alignment to demand and service capacity
* Monitor and manage controllable costs (wages, consumables, shrinkage, wastage)
* Protect customer experience and brand standards through store visits, audits, feedback and complaint actioning
* Ensure operational excellence and compliance: WHS, incident reporting, hazard management, policy adherence
* Execute product, merchandising and promotional initiatives consistently across the area
* Provide clear reporting on results, risks, priorities, and escalations (with options + recommendations)
About you
* Proven success leading multi-site retail/service teams (or a large, complex single-site operation)
* Strong commercial capability with a track record improving KPIs
* Confident people leader: coaching, performance management, recruitment and succession planning
* Data-driven and decisive—able to turn trends into clear, practical store actions
* Comfortable travelling regularly and being present in-store where it matters
* Experience in personal services, specialty retail, QSR, hospitality, fitness or franchised networks is advantageous
