The GIS Data Analyst will be compensated with an hourly rate of AUD 75 to AUD 100.
Job Description
A GIS Data Analyst is required for the generation and maintenance of foundation bathymetric data. This involves extract-transform-load (ETL) functions, quality assessment and attribution, geospatial process implementation and improvement, geospatial analysis and generation of supporting documentation.
This data is a critical input to capability and the generation of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) and other Defence products, as well as a key element in data analysis conducted to inform the HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP) collection priorities and survey extents.
The GIS Data Analyst will work with AHO databases and software, including Mediaflux, CARIS BASE Editor / Bathy DataBASE and ESRI ArcGIS Pro to locate, extract, assess, transform and load data, with associated quality control and attribution.
This data will then be integrated with other data sources to produce the foundation bathymetry for an area, including comparison against existing datasets or products and resolving any data conflicts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Data Integration and Transformation: Knowledge of best practices in data integration, transformation, optimisation, management and dissemination using geospatial data and services.
* Understanding of Spatial Data Types: Understanding of spatial data types.
* Database Management: Understanding of relational databases, database design and data modelling.
* Data Integration Experience: Understanding and experience in data integration.
* Spatial Data Modelling: Understanding and experience in building spatial data models optimised for visualisation and analysis.
* Statistical Analysis: Understanding of statistical analysis; including geo-statistical analysis.
