Harrison McMillan is seeking a HR Operations Assistant Director (EL1) to work with a Federal Government Department.
Role
This role will be part of a small, agile team that supports both operational and strategic HR functions and activities for the Department. The Assistant Director role will work closely with the Director to support the day-to-day activities of operational HR. The role is subject to the agile operating needs of the Department, with the number and timeframe for projects and deliverables evolving in line with organisational priorities.
Success
* Working with various stakeholders on the onboarding and recruitment processes, including providing tailored options and solutions to a wide range of recruitment-based problems
* Provide expert advice and guidance, monitor changes in APS employment conditions, recruitment policies, procedures and legislation, share knowledge and identify emerging issues
* Development, input and review into recruitment and other HR policies and other relevant forms required
* Have a continuous improvement outlook to develop and review processes and procedures to ensure fit for purpose ways of working
* Finalise configuration of the new recruitment system
* Assist with the establishment of the new payroll system and ongoing service with the provider
* Manage the day-to-day components of the incoming Graduate Program, including coordination of the rotations, necessary reports, pastoral care for graduates and supervisors
* Assist with developing a job description library for the Authority
* Preparing and contributing to briefs, papers and reports
* Liaise with the Director to manage the team performance, as well as identify and set work priorities
Experience
* Strong technical knowledge of APS recruitment legislation and regulations
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role managing APS recruitment and onboarding processes, including knowledge of APS gazette requirements
* Knowledge of payroll process and requirements
* Experience managing/coordinating a Graduate or similar entry level program
* Good communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to support and manage APS level staff, including identifying capability gaps and providing development and mentoring
Essential
* Establishing new processes and systems in the Federal Government environment
* Current baseline security clearance
* Experience with eRecruit and Aurion
