Marine Design | Hands-On Environment | Designs That Get Built
Join a design-led, strategically scaling business and lead the development of aluminium vessels from concept to builder delivery.
About the Business:
This is a design-led, growth-focused business delivering high-performance aluminium vessel designs to a network of respected boatbuilders across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and beyond. The team designs boats that are built, launched, and used, not parked in folders. Designers work side-by-side with fabricators and builders, refining concepts based on real-world performance, not theory alone. The environment is collaborative, practical, and grounded in craftsmanship with high expectations around quality, ownership, and follow-through.
As the business continues to grow its design capability, the business is now looking to bring on a
Junior to Mid-Level Industrial Designer
who wants to be part of a team where design decisions matter and outcomes are visible.
The Opportunity:
This role sits within the Design Channel and works closely with senior designers, operations, and the workshop team. You'll contribute to the design and delivery of Marine vessels and components, producing
build-ready designs
that support efficient fabrication and commissioning. It's a role that balances creativity with technical accuracy and execution.
This position suits a designer who wants:
* Exposure to the full design-to-build lifecycle
* Regular interaction with fabricators and builders
* To grow technical judgement and autonomy over time
What You'll Be Doing:
* Developing industrial design concepts and layouts aligned to the business Marine standards
* Producing accurate CAD models and drawings suitable for fabrication
* Progressing design scopes to agreed timelines and quality benchmarks
* Incorporating constructability and performance feedback from the workshop
* Supporting design refinement during build and commissioning
* Maintaining organised, traceable design documentation
* Participating in design reviews and continuous improvement discussions
About You:
* 0–5 years' experience in industrial design or a related discipline
* Strong CAD capability (Inventor, Rhino, Fusion, or similar)
* Practical understanding of fabrication, materials, and manufacturing constraints
* Marine experience advantageous but not essential
* Comfortable taking ownership and seeing work through
* Open to feedback, learning, and hands-on problem solving
Why Designers Choose This Team:
* Designs don't stop at approval — they get built
* Close collaboration with experienced builders and designers
* High standards without corporate bureaucracy
* Clear development pathway toward increased responsibility
* A practical, down-to-earth team that values quality and accountability
The Business values
initiative, craftsmanship, openness, ownership, and a team-first mindset
. This role is ideal for designers who care about how things are made — not just how they look.
