Offer description

About the Resilient Care Program:

Resilient CARE is a three‐year program working across five Queensland regions to strengthen community and primary healthcare resilience to disasters. With climate‐related events becoming more frequent and severe, the program supports groups most at risk and helps local providers and community organisations build capacity, improve service integration, and embed disaster preparedness. ABV volunteers play a key role by partnering with communities to strengthen local systems and support long‐term resilience.

Purpose of the Role:

YWRF is a community‐led organisation dedicated to providing a safe and supportive refuge for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Supported by a skilled board, strong values, and partnerships across local inter‐agency networks, YWRF is guided by the vision: "A place in the community where women and children are safe from domestic and family violence."

As YWRF works toward establishing an emergency refuge, strengthening its digital capability has become a critical priority. The organisation currently lacks a functioning website, online donation tools, and the digital presence needed to keep supporters informed. This gap limits visibility, reduces fundraising potential, and affects preparedness for ongoing operations and disaster resilience.

YWRF is seeking a volunteer web developer to help establish a modern, secure, and user‐friendly online presence that supports its mission and community impact.

The deliverables of this Assignment are:

Digital Capability Development

* Analyse current digital capability, assets, and gaps (esp. website, content, security, donation processes).
* Advise on the build and structure of a new donation‐enabled, self‐managed website that is inclusive and supports the specific need of women experiencing DFV.
* Provide guidance on governance, privacy, and compliance requirements.

Financial & Governance Integration

* Support YWRF to establish clear financial processes associated with online donations
* Recommend sustainable workflows for website maintenance and updating.

Organisational Strengthening

* Identify opportunities to enhance credibility, visibility, and digital engagement with supporters.
* Ensure digital systems contribute to long‐term refuge readiness and DFV support capacity.

Capacity Building

* Make digital systems easy for the Board to understand, manage, and maintain (skills transfer focus).

Selection Criteria:

* Experience in website development or digital capability uplift.
* Knowledge of website security, privacy, and online donation systems.
* Understanding of small‐organisation governance (desirable), financial processes, or not‐for‐profit digital operations.
* Ability to simplify technical concepts for a Board with varying digital skill levels.
* Experience in resilience, community organisations, or DFV‐sector‐related digital considerations (desirable).

Prerequisites for undertaking volunteering assignments:

* To register with ABV (if not already registered):
o At least 5 years relevant professional experience
o You must be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident residing in Australia. Australian Citizens residing overseas may be considered on a case by case basis.
o Willingness to complete a police check and Working With Children Check
o Willingness to be interviewed and have references checked
* Once you have passed registration phase:
o Willingness to interview for the role with ABV program staff
o Acceptable police check and Working with Children Check before commencement
o Sign the ABV Letter of Agreement (Code of Conduct, etc)
o Medical check (external and ABV), compliance with all travel, entry and in‐country requirements (where required).
o You are expected to abide by any COVID regulations of the destination country or the partner organisation with whom you may work. These regulations will be made known to you.
