About the Role
Council is seeking a Building Surveyor to join our dynamic Building Services team. The role reports to the Coordinator Building Services and offers a rewarding opportunity to shape safe, compliant and high-quality development outcomes across our community.
Responsibilities
In this role you will assess and determine development applications, undertake inspections of buildings under construction, and provide professional building certification services. Your work will ensure developments meet all relevant statutory requirements while supporting efficient and responsible growth.
Qualifications
* Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council's values (creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe).
* Tertiary qualifications in building surveying.
* Minimum NSW Fair Trading Accreditation as a Building Surveyor—restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings).
* Demonstrated ability to carry out certification work on class 1, 10 and 2‐9 buildings: acting as a Principal Certifier; issuing Complying Development Certificates, Construction Certificates, and Occupation Certificates under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; carrying out critical stage inspections.
* Experience in the assessment and determination of development applications.
* Effective communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to provide technical reports.
* Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while collaborating with the team and key stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, building surveying software and other corporate software.
