Fitter Machinist / Toolmaker -Technical Officer (Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic) – East Metropolitan Health Service.

Position is within the Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic, part of the Rehabilitation Technology Unit (RTU) at Royal Perth Hospital and the State Rehabilitation Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Two Technicians are being sought to work within a multidisciplinary team to provide manufacturing, modification and maintenance support for wheelchair and seating systems.
Responsibilities
* Manufacture, modification and maintenance support for wheelchair and seating systems to facilitate rehabilitation and discharge.
* Construct, fit, fault-find, repair, perform safety checks and quality assurance on light mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team including Rehabilitation Engineers, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other Technical Officers.
* Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and a willingness to work with patients.
* On-the-job training is provided; experience in contemporary principles and practices used in the design, manufacture and repair of wheelchair and seating appliances is an advantage but not essential.
Qualifications
* Relevant post-secondary qualification (AQF 3 or similar).
* Competence in constructing, fitting, fault finding, repair, safety checking and QA of light mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Ability to interact with patients and work within a multidisciplinary team.
