Today, we provide leading and innovative services to women and the broader Canberra community in the areas of children’s services, community services, housing, youth services, personal and professional training, and women’s leadership.
About the Role
The Safeguarding Coordinator will play a key role in working collaboratively across both Community Services and Children’s Services portfolios to embed safeguarding practices, respond to concerns, lead investigations and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice and make recommendations to the executive on contemporary best practice for child safety ensuring alignment with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
1. Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies and procedures.
2. Ensure organisational compliance with legislation, standards, and best practices.
3. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding laws and frameworks.
4. Integrate safeguarding principles into broader organisational policies.
5. Deliver engaging training and induction for staff, students, and volunteers.
6. Provide ongoing support, training, and mentoring to staff on safeguarding matters.
7. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
