Payroll Lead
Job Description:
The Payroll Lead role is a critical position that requires expertise in payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple regions, maintaining compliance with tax laws, and supporting project accounting functions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian tax regulations and payroll laws, as well as experience in overseas payroll processing. They will also possess high attention to detail, strong organisational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare Australian payroll in Xero
* Facilitate preparation of overseas payrolls with external advisors, including USA (via ADP), New Zealand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and the UK
* Work closely with internal teams to capture payroll changes
* Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
* Reconcile payroll source data across systems
* Ensure compliance with payroll related tax returns (superannuation, payroll tax, Workcover, etc)
* Research and analyse exit terms/costs
* Process payroll-related journals
* Collaborate with regional external partners to prepare tax-related reports
* Any other payroll-related matters
General Accounting Support:
* Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
* Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation
* Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and efficiencies
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* 3+ years of experience in payroll processing
* Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations and payroll laws
* Experience with overseas payroll processing would be ideal, but not essential
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
* Experience with tax is desirable
