Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a driven and hands-on Site/Production Manager to lead our Mackay Port Packing Facility in a full-time permanent capacity.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for end-to-end site operations, from production planning and team development to safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
You'll lead a team of passionate operators and team leaders to ensure we deliver high-quality packaged sugar products safely, on time, and to spec.

Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading and developing a high-performing team, building accountability and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
* Overseeing day-to-day site operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective packing and dispatch
* Driving operational performance through production planning, efficiency reporting, and data accuracy
* Managing site compliance with safety standards, environmental policies, and hygiene audits (including BRC and GMP)
* Ensuring all products meet customer requirements for packaging, delivery timelines, and specialty product quality
* Monitoring and managing budget performance, cost control, and reporting across production and site functions
* Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and align production with business needs
* Driving planning, reporting, and data integrity using SAP, SALT, and internal systems
* Contributing to longer-term planning through capital projects and strategic site improvements
We're looking for a capable, hands-on leader with a strong understanding of FMCG manufacturing and a passion for people development and process improvement.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A trade or tertiary qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field
* 10+ years' experience in production or operations roles, with strong process and plant knowledge
* At least 5 years in leadership roles, with a proven ability to build and guide high-performing teams in a continuous improvement culture
* Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
* Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
* Experience using systems such as SAP, SALT, or equivalent, with a strong grasp of operational KPIs and production performance metrics
* A supportive, coaching leadership style with a focus on team engagement and capability building
* Confident communicator who works well across teams and levels of the business
* Flexible, solution-oriented mindset, able to adapt to changing priorities and operational challenges
