We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our front-desk team and be the first point of contact for our valued patients.
Position Summary
As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our clinic. You will provide excellent customer service to patients, assist with administrative tasks, and support our healthcare professionals in delivering top-tier medical care.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Patient Services
* Open and close the clinic daily.
* Greet patients and visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
* Answer incoming phone calls and handle inquiries efficiently.
* Schedule and manage patient appointments.
* Process patient billings, receipts, and Medicare bulk billing as required.
* Assist patients with completing registration forms and updating records.
* Refer patients to the nurse or doctor as needed.
Administrative Duties
* Handle incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and correspondence.
* Scan and file medical documents, test results, and referrals.
* Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
* Assist doctors and nurses with administrative tasks such as photocopying and data entry.
* Ensure the reception and waiting area are clean, organized, and well-stocked with forms and brochures.
Compliance & Confidentiality
* Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations.
* Follow workplace health and safety guidelines, including infection control procedures.
* Stay updated on practice policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in medical reception or a similar customer service role (preferred)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment
Experience with medical software (e.g., Best Practice, Medical Director, or similar) (preferred)
A professional, friendly, and empathetic approach to patient care
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
