Are you an experienced transport professional ready to take the lead in a fast-paced, 24/7 road transport operation?
We are a well-established and growing road transport company based in Wacol QLD, seeking a hands-on, driven Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and play a key leadership role as we transition into our newly constructed, state-of-the-art depot in the coming year.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior leadership position and help shape the next phase of our company’s growth.
About the Role
Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of our transport operations across local and linehaul divisions.
This is a highly visible and hands on leadership role requiring strong operational oversight, team management capability and a deep understanding of heavy vehicle compliance and fatigue management obligations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily transport operations across a 24/7 environment
* Lead and manage schedulers, drivers and workshop coordination
* Ensure compliance with NHVR requirements, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management and company policies
* Drive operational performance, fleet utilisation and cost efficiency
* Manage customer relationships and service delivery outcomes
* Implement and maintain SOPs, policies and safety systems
* Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions where required
* Responsible for the recruitment and performance management of operational and driving staff
* Assist with the operational transition into our new depot facilities
About You
You will be a proactive leader who thrives in a dynamic transport environment.
Essential:
* Proven experience in road transport operations management
* Strong knowledge of NHVL, CoR, NHVAS and WAHVAS
* Demonstrated leadership experience in a 24/7 operational setting
* Ability to manage competing priorities and solve problems decisively
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Highly Regarded:
* Experience working within accreditation schemes
* Exposure to EWD systems and fleet technology platforms such as Trimble/TruckMate/MTData/Seeing Machines etc.
* Experience managing change or site relocations
