System Engineer – Cloud

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced System Engineer – Cloud to join a high‐performing technology team operating within a large, complex enterprise environment. The role involves building, maintaining, and improving secure, scalable cloud platforms while working closely with stakeholders to deliver modern, customer‐focused technology solutions.
Responsibilities
* Build, operate, and continuously improve enterprise‐scale cloud platforms across multi‐cloud environments (AWS and Azure).
* Manage and enhance cloud orchestration and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities using tools such as Terraform.
* Support and maintain cloud‐based software assets, predominantly developed in Python and Django.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to understand requirements and deliver effective cloud solutions.
* Identify, assess, and report security, operational, and cost‐related risks in line with governance and compliance standards.
* Drive cloud cost optimisation, scalability, resilience, and availability across platforms.
* Create and maintain technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Analyse technology incidents, identify trends, and contribute to root cause investigations.
* Support disaster recovery planning, availability management, and adherence to change management processes.
* Apply Agile, Lean, and DevOps practices to improve delivery and operational outcomes.
* Share knowledge, mentor peers, and contribute to building team capability.
* Stay current with emerging technologies and proactively recommend platform and service improvements.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a Senior Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer or System Engineer role.
* Hands‐on experience managing large‐scale, enterprise multi‐cloud environments.
* Strong technical experience with AWS and Azure hyperscaler platforms.
* Demonstrated experience delivering Infrastructure as Code and orchestration using Terraform.
* Strong programming and automation skills using Python, with exposure to Django.
* Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
* Solid understanding of cloud‐based application deployment and operations.
* Experience working within IT operations, including ITIL‐aligned change management processes.
Highly Desirable
* Experience supporting complex enterprise technology environments.
* Exposure to regulated industries such as banking, insurance, or financial services.
* Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant industry certifications.
* Experience working in Agile, Lean, and DevOps delivery environments.
Benefits & Conditions
For Australian‐based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed‐term roles.
