The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, this role is responsible to provide accurate and efficient legal advice and support to the Company to manage risks and protect the legal position of the Company while enabling the Company to achieve its business and growth objectives. This is an 18‐month role based at our West Perth office, conveniently located near the City West train station.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely and accurate legal advice to internal stakeholders (including Senior Management, General Managers, and Executives) across the Company.
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills including negotiation, drafting and review of legal and commercial agreements with internal and external stakeholders to deliver required business outcomes – including assisting with procurement and operational contracts for goods and services, major contractor agreements, contracts for general works, services and equipment supply, design and construction contracts for project expansions, major contract tenders, land access agreements, native title and heritage agreements, joint venture agreements and other commercial or mining related contracts as required.
* Assist with resolving commercial disputes and any potentially litigious matters associated with the Company's operations.
* Ensure that the Company's material legal and commercial interests are protected, and that commitments and contractual arrangements entered into by the Company protect these interests and deliver the required business outcomes.
* Assist as required in relation to the negotiation and execution of other contracts, including from time to time offtake agreements, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, banking and finance and other commercial transactions entered into by the Company, including undertaking and managing due diligence processes.
* Assist with preparation of Board papers for contract approvals or where related to legal matters.
* Instruct and manage (as required) external legal providers to ensure timely, fit for purpose advice is obtained on competitive terms.
About You
* Approximately 3–7 years post‐admission experience gained at a top‐tier or specialist firm and/or in‐house in the resources, energy or infrastructure sectors.
* Demonstrated front‐end experience drafting and negotiating major project, construction, professional services and procurement contracts (EPC, EPCM, supply, services).
* Strong working knowledge of construction law, including AS suites, FIDIC, Security of Payment legislation and related industry practice.
* Ability to think commercially and propose practical solutions to manage or mitigate risks.
* Excellent communication skills with ability to support various management teams including operations, projects, contracts and procurement, corporate development and land access and approvals.
* Unrestricted legal practicing certificate (WA).
* Tertiary qualifications in Law (LLB, JD, or equivalent).
* Experience in construction, operations, and project delivery essential.
* Strong organisational skills with an ability to coordinate tasks, while effectively and efficiently managing own output.
* Postgraduate qualifications in construction law desirable.
* Some construction or commercial disputes experience (litigation, arbitration or expert determination).
* Experience with mining tenement, native title and heritage issues affecting project delivery.
* Familiarity with ASX‐listed company governance and disclosure obligations.
