About the Role
We are seeking an entry-level Network Administrator with at least two years of experience to join our technical team. The Network Administrator / Technical Support Specialist is responsible for configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and supporting URL Networks' customers' telecommunications and networking systems. The role involves maintaining the performance and ensuring the availability of internal and client network environments while also providing technical assistance to customers in resolving network and telephony-related issues. The position requires a high level of technical knowledge of network administration and a customer-centric approach to service delivery. The role may involve after-hours or on-call work, depending on customer needs.
This is a full-time position ideally suited to someone who has an extensive background with Mikrotik RouterOS as well as an in-depth understanding VoIP delivery using SIP.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties – Network Administration & Technical Network Support
● Administer and maintain customer networks including but not limited to routers, switches and access points.
● Monitor customer network infrastructure to identify and resolve operational issues proactively.
● Fine-tune monitoring alerts to balance actionable insights with minimal noise.
● Configure and maintain customer VoIP services as required.
● Assist with the provisioning, number porting and configuration of telecommunication services.
● Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues relating to network connectivity, phone system faults and VoIP configurations.
● Escalate and manage network incidents and faults with upstream providers and carriers.
● Conduct regular system maintenance, including software updates, patches and hardware upgrades.
● Maintain security protocols to safeguard data and network integrity.
● Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, system configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
● Participate in the design, testing and deployment of new telecommunications and networking solutions.
● Provide technical support and feedback during new client installations and network upgrades.
● Assist in the continuous improvement of network systems and processes.
● Assist in the training and onboarding of new employees.
● Utilise the internal ticketing system to log and track customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up in accordance with SLAs.
Secondary Duties
● Provide front-line technical programming support to customers via phone, email and on-site visits, ensuring professional and timely resolution of issues to support specific client business needs.
● Support high-priority affiliate clients with technical network and programming assistance and service continuity.
● Maintain a professional telecommuting workspace compliant with OH&S standards.
● Attend team meetings, training sessions and occasional on-site work as required.
● Liaise with sales and account teams to provide technical input on service offerings.
● Represent the company in a professional manner during all customer, affiliate and supplier interactions.
● Undertake other related duties as directed.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
● Approximately 2 years of experience in a network support or network administration role.
● Must be able to satisfy AusCheck background check
● Solid understanding of networking principles, including IP addressing, routing, NAT, VLANs, wireless networking and VPNs.
● Experience with VoIP systems, SIP trunking and telecommunications networks.
● Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in a networked environment.
● Proficiency in server maintenance and network monitoring tools.
● Excellent communication and customer service skills.
● Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
● Willingness to travel locally or interstate as required.
● Strong time management skills with the ability to independently prioritise and manage tasks to meet both customer expectations and internal deadlines.
● Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow professionally through both formal training and self-directed exploration of new technologies driven by personal interest and initiative.
Desirable Skills
● Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
● Understanding of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox).
● Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, etc.
● Knowledge of monitoring platforms, Nagios, Zabbix, VoIP Monitor
