Base pay range: A$117,665.00/yr – A$138,493.00/yr. This range is provided by the Tribunal; your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.

This exciting new role is within the Property and Security team and can be located in Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.

Term: 12 months with possibility of extension.

Remuneration: The annual salary range for the position is EL1 $117,665–$138,493 p.a., plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

About the opportunity

The Tribunal is seeking an experienced security practitioner to commence an important and substantial program of work within the Property and Security section. The Protective Security Program Manager will operate with considerable independence and be accountable for achieving integrated protective security governance and administration outcomes within a small, but capable, security workforce.

Responsibilities

- Lead engagement with stakeholders across the department and government to leverage expertise and collaborate on security capability uplift solutions.
- Communicate effectively to translate security intelligence reporting into effective and proportionate security risk settings.
- Prepare, assess, evaluate and endorse protective security reports, submissions, briefings and discussion papers.
- Contribute to broader security capability programs that deliver security training, communication and engagement to uplift security maturity, resilience and culture.
- Drive a positive workplace culture and lead and empower staff to deliver program outcomes and build capability and development.

Qualifications

- Experience in interpreting and using security doctrine, including but not limited to the Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual or Defence Security Principles Framework.
- Ability to lead engagement with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational and engagement skills.
- Positive workplace culture leadership and staff development abilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting level 1 security clearance.
- Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement.
- Commitment to Australian Federal Police Check and completion of health declaration.
- Academic qualification (degree, postgraduate) and/or aligned qualifications.

Ideal candidate

- Passionate about protective security in government and committed to protecting Australian Government resources.
- Confident security practitioner with solid influencing ability and willingness to work with stakeholders on complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policy, develop and deliver solutions to complex problems, prioritise work, manage time and deadlines, and work proactively and autonomously.
- Understanding of security risk management and ability to engage with risk and make security risk decisions.
- Demonstrates behaviour expected of Tribunal employees and cultural expectations.
