**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
The People and Communication Division provide human resources and communication services to the department within the Corporate and Enabling Services Group.

The Organisation Design Branch within the division is responsible for developing strategies and implementing plans that influence the culture and performance of the workforce. This includes workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, workforce reporting and analytics, culture and workforce strategy.

As an APS6 Diversity and Inclusion Officer you will report to an Assistant Director (EL1) and contribute to #TeamDEWR's ability to deliver on our purpose through the experience of our people at work, and their experience as part of the Australian Public Service. You will do this through the design and implementation of initiatives that support attracting, retaining and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce, contribute to closing the gap, delivering on APS Reform priorities and achieving Commonwealth diversity targets. These initiatives may include policies, plans, delivering projects, events and providing professional advice.

The role is centrally located in Canberra with great access to amenities near the office. The role is also open to flexible working arrangements including part-time hours, compressed work weeks, and hybrid office and home work arrangements.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
The main duties of the role may be to:

- Contribute to the design of better practice, evidence-based diversity and inclusion strategies, implementation plans and initiatives.
- Lead the implementation of projects or events.
- Provide culturally sensitive, professional and evidence-based advice to colleagues, leaders and employee diversity networks on diversity and inclusion matters, including First Nations employment.
- Provide support to our Indigenous Liaison Officer in supporting our First Nations employees and their managers.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement to our ways of working.
- Initiate and maintain collaboration with key stakeholders to deliver on the activities and priorities.
- Monitor and manage delivery of your own work performance and those of your team, identifying opportunities for development.
- Proactively recognise and celebrate the achievements and behaviours of others that reinforce our culture and deliver on our purpose.
