About the role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to support the day-to-day operations of our WHS function. This role is ideal for someone early in their WHS career who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and wants to build strong foundations in safety systems, compliance and workforce engagement.
You will play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our WHS Management System across multiple operational sites.
GRAF operates certified management systems to ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management), providing exposure to structured, best-practice WHS and quality frameworks.
This role will be working 24 hours per week (3 days).
What you’ll be doing (but not limited to):
* Support the administration of our digital WHS management system, ensuring WHS records, registers and documentation are accurate, current and audit-ready
* Coordinate WHS training, inductions, high-risk work licence records, competency management and emergency preparedness activities
* Assisting with incident reporting and corrective action tracking
* Support workplace inspections, audits and WHS compliance activities
* Assist with the development, review and maintenance of operational WHS documentation (e.g. work instructions, SWMS, JSAs, VOCs, and forms and checklists)
* Assist with the preparation, review and editing of WHS training materials and learning resources
* Assist with return-to-work processes and rehabilitation coordination for injured workers
* Liaise with employees, contractors and key stakeholders to promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture
* Assist with WHS asset registers, including high-risk plant and equipment
What you'll bring:
* Qualification in WHS (or currently studying)
* Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to engage positively with people across all levels of the business
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Nice to have but not essential:
* Previous experience in a WHS, compliance or operational environment
* Exposure to WHS management systems or digital safety platforms
* Basic understanding of Australian WHS legislation and Codes of Practice
* Exposure to quality systems or ISO 9001 environments
