Hays is currently partnered with a state government organisation to recruit multiple Emergency Hotline Operators in a temporary capacity with an immediate start.
This company is responsible for child protection, prevention of family violence, housing, disability, multicultural affairs, LGBTIQ+ equality, veterans, and the offices for Women and Youth.
**Your new role**
This role will be responsible for assisting those individuals in flood affected areas with personal and hardship assistance payments, accommodation and food on behalf of the Government Department.
In order for an individual to be eligible for government support, they must meet strict criteria, so you will be required to assess each customer's situation to see if they meet the requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage the phone line and assist flood victims with accommodation, funding and food etc
- Qualifying individuals for support in relation to - loss of power, amenities, contaminated water, no road access to their properties, etc.
- General enquiries on what to do if impacted by the floods
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in an administration or customer service position
- Strong administrative skills with particular attention to detail and excellent record keeping.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Polite telephone manner
- Punctuality and reliability
- Ability to pick up systems and hit the ground running
Some callers will be experiencing great devastation during this time so it is essential you can show extreme compassion whilst remaining resilient and having the ability to say no to individuals if they don't qualify.
You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be willing to obtain this.
Applicants must be willing to undergo a Police check.
**What you'll get in return**
This role offers you an hourly rate of $32.80 plus super and full-time hours of Monday to Friday
- 9am 5pm.
The length of this assignment is unknown at this stage.
