The North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (NWQROC) represents 12 councils within the North West Queensland region, including Burke, Carpentaria, Cloncurry, Croydon, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, Kowanyama, McKinlay, Mornington Island, Mount Isa, and Richmond. The organisation supports regional collaboration by addressing shared challenges and opportunities. It works to enhance regional development, advocate for community needs, and foster resilience across the region. The organisation aims to improve outcomes for the communities it represents through innovative and strategic initiatives.
Role Description
This contract role is for a Regional Drought Resilience Coordinator based anywhere in the North West Queensland region, with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, allowing some tasks to be completed from home. Primary responsibilities include the delivery of the North West Queensland Regional Drought Resilience Plan The coordinator will regularly liaise with councils, stakeholders, and community members to ensure effective implementation and adherence to regional goals.
Qualifications
Essential:
* Demonstrated organisational, time management and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to balance competing workloads and deliver within deadlines.
* Demonstrated experience in project management and administration.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Excellent standard of IT literacy and advanced computer and software skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft 365 suite of applications and Google web apps.
* Ability to work independently, flexibly and remotely – as needed.
* Highspeed and reliable internet connection to host Teams meetings.
* Car driver's licence.
* Must be authorised to work in Australia.
Desirable:
* Experience in the agricultural and/or natural resource management industry.
* Tertiary qualifications in project management, communications, public relations, business, agribusiness or other related disciplines.
* Experience in writing corporate documents.
* Knowledge of Federal, State and local governments.
* Knowledge of subject matter to be delivered.
Remuneration
* Contracted position to 30 June 2026 (high likelihood of extension to 30 November 2026 and beyond)
* Remuneration - $90,000 - $110,000/annum (pro rata for contracted time) (excl. super).
