**About the role**
Mater Engineering and Maintenance Department is currently seeking a Biomedical Electronic Technician for a permanent full-time opportunity based at our South Brisbane campus.
As a Biomedical Electronic Technician, you will be required to perform complex and diverse technical tasks and engage in independent decision making and judgement on a day to day basis with mínimal supervision in the provision of quality technical services.
**Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour** plus 11.5% superannuation and**access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900** +**access to many staff benefits
**What you'll be doing**
In this role you will perform technical tasks on a day to day basis with mínimal supervision as it relates to service support of general biomedical equipment. Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Perform a diverse range of technical tasks, from routine to complex and integrated with other disciplines that is of a consistently high technical standard.
- Independently solve complex technical problems regarding biomedical equipment and medical gas delivery equipment such as: ventilators, anaesthetic machines, patient monitors, defibrillators, analgesic devices, infusion pumps etc with mínimal supervision
- Actively participate and provide support to the team, advice to peers, advice or reporting services to managers
- Take responsibility for work at all levels within the biomedical engineering department without regular supervision
- Actively develop junior staff by mentoring, guiding and training in procedures and practices in the biomedical engineering department
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and technical practice and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care
- Installing, Configuring and Supporting Networked Medical Equipment
- Attend training for continuing professional and technical development.
- Excellent communication skills
- Well-developed time management and organisation skills
- Participate in 24-hour, 7 day on-call roster.
- As part of the larger Biomedical team for state-wide support, you will be required to work at alternative locations to your primary place of work as reasonably necessary.
- As part of the larger Biomedical team for state-wide support, you will also be required to travel as reasonably necessary for the performance of your duties.
- To observe all safe working practices as directed by the supervisor and use of personal protective equipment as provided.
- Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazardous situations arising in the course of work.
- Promptly acknowledge responses to concerns and requests made by stakeholders
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Demonstrated high level of competence in diagnosis of faults and repairs, problem solving and technical skill with respect to the service of biomedical and medical gas delivery equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical advice relating to biomedical engineering to a variety of clients regarding technical standards and service delivery.
- Developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement and initiative when required.
- Previous experience in a similar role or a similar environment.
- Hold a full and valid QLD driver's licence.
