Position Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the delivery of compliant financial statements, managing audit processes and ensuring financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards. This position is also responsible for treasury activities including investment and management of constrained cash.
This role is a senior position of the Finance Work Group and is required to work collaboratively with and support other senior members on required tasks and strategic activities that support the desired direction of Council.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level experience with financial accounting activities including the development of financial statements and working with audit committees.
2. Demonstrated high level experience with developing and managing compliant reporting submissions of Business Activity, Fringe Benefit Tax and Payroll Tax statements.
3. Demonstrated high level experience with the management of treasury functions including investment.
4. Demonstrated high level customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships particularly with external bodies such as auditors.
5. Demonstrated experience and understanding of system and management accounting.
6. Demonstrated ability to lead by example and foster a positive culture in a team environment.
Local Government and TechOne experience is highly regarded.
