Summary
HEH Civil is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee the safe, compliant and effective delivery of civil construction projects across Far North Queensland. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for day‐to‐day site leadership, coordination of resources, contractor management, and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with contractual, safety, quality and program requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise daily civil construction activities, including bulk earthworks, roads, drainage, trenching and foundations, in accordance with approved plans and schedules.
* Oversee on‐site construction operations from mobilisation through to completion, including commissioning and handover where applicable.
* Coordinate subcontractors, plant, labour and materials to support efficient project delivery and achievement of program milestones.
* Implement and maintain site safety systems, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, approved SWMS/JSEAs, and HEH Civil and client safety requirements.
* Ensure site personnel are appropriately inducted, trained and supported to perform work safely.
* Monitor site progress and address operational issues impacting safety, quality, programme or cost, escalating risks as required.
* Review construction documentation, site plans and programs to ensure works align with project objectives and approved scope.
* Maintain effective working relationships with client representatives and internal stakeholders through clear, professional communication.
* Support cost control activities including progress tracking, reporting, variations and input into claims processes.
* Ensure compliance with HEH Civil systems, client requirements, industry standards and safe work procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive experience in civil construction delivery roles such as Superintendent, Construction Manager or Senior Supervisor.
* Engineering, construction management or trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
* Demonstrated experience supervising contractors and subcontractors on medium to large civil infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of bulk earthworks and civil construction methodologies.
* Working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, environmental obligations and quality requirements.
* Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise multiple work fronts concurrently.
* Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to lead site teams and engage professionally with clients.
* Ability to work autonomously within delegated authority and escale issues appropriately.
