About the role
TheCleansing services unit is responsible for the cleanliness of the city througha range of functions including, emptying litter bins, sweeping roads &footpaths, pressure washing, collecting dumped rubbish, litter collection,street furniture cleaning and other general cleaning duties.
Asa Street Cleansing Attendant/Driver Operator you will play a significant rolein delivering a range of cleaning services throughout the city, at times intimeframes outside the normal span of hours.
Theprimary objectives of the position are to:
* Maintain theappearance and cleanliness of the city by operating cleansing unitplant/equipment and undertaking a range of general cleaning and associatedtasks in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.
* Supervise and/orassist in training of other cleansing team members or agency hire staff asrequired.
About you
To be successful in this role,you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:
· Certificate III or IV in Cleansing, Waste or relatedindustry-based training course or equivalent relevant experience in thecleansing and/or waste industry.
· Demonstratedability to operate a variety of medium and heavy mechanical plant and equipmentin a safe and efficient manner and to undertake routine daily maintenance ofminor plant and equipment.
· Demonstratedability to work diligently and enthusiastically under general supervision inorder to meet desired service outcomes.
· Demonstratedreliability and punctuality and ability to work cooperatively in a teamenvironment.
· Demonstratedability to communicate with the public in a clear and courteous manner, inorder to present a positive image for Council along with basic administrativeandcomputerskills.
· Demonstratedability to work in adverse weather conditions and on a roster system whichincludes weekends, public holidays and daily shifts that may be scheduled overa 24-hour day.
· Acurrent valid [and ongoing] Victorian Drivers licence, with HRclassification/endorsement and satisfactory [and ongoing]Police check and working with childrensuppliedprior to offer of employment and commencement.
You may be required to undertake practicaltesting, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacityassessment (physical) or aptitude testing.
The successful candidate will be asked toproduce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked toconsentto a national police check (and where relevant an 'international criminalhistory check'), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
