We built the Royal Australian Navy's Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives. About the Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join the SSN AUKUS Build Program as aPlatform Engineering Manager, leading a team of engineers responsible for submarine platform systems including hull, mechanical, electrical, and structural domains. You'll provide technical leadership, drive engineering performance, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and governance standards while collaborating with UK-based stakeholders and internal IPTs.

Responsibilities

* Lead the engineering team to deliver platform system design, integration, and verification.
* Provide technical leadership across platform engineering domains.
* Manage team performance, development, and resource planning.
* Ensure compliance with engineering management plans, safety, and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate with UK stakeholders and internal IPTs to align engineering activities.
* Maintain platform engineering schedules, budgets, and risk registers.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About You

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
* Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
* Strong understanding of submarine platform systems and integration.
* Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects across scope, schedule, and cost.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience with engineering governance, risk management, and configuration control.
* Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.

Desirable:

* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
* Certificate IV in Project or People Management.
* Familiarity with UK and/or Australian naval engineering standards.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
