We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team at our Thomastown office. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll work closely with senior leaders and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality financial reporting and insights that support strategic decision-making and the growth of our business.
This role is broad and hands-on — from preparing and analysing monthly financial reports and maintaining balance sheet accuracy, to managing tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions and supporting internal and external audits. You'll also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and the preparation of half-year and full-year statutory accounts. In addition, you'll mentor and support junior team members, helping to build capability within the team and contributing to a positive, high-performing culture. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and analyse month-end financial reports, including reconciliations and maintaining the balance sheet.
* Manage compliance for GST, FBT, income tax, and other statutory obligations across Australia and New Zealand.
* Partner with business unit managers to provide insights and financial commentary on variances.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, and half-year and full-year statutory reporting.
* Assist with audits and maintain financial systems, including ongoing improvements to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
* Contribute to strategic projects, including insurance declarations, fixed asset register maintenance, and ad hoc reporting.
* Coach and mentor junior team members to support their growth and development.
We are seeking a candidate who is not only technically proficient but also collaborative and impactful. To succeed, you should have:
* A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, and CA or CPA qualification.
* Strong technical accounting and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Experience with ERP systems; exposure to Power BI or similar tools is an advantage.
* A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to thrive in a team-focused environment.
