About the role

The purpose of Human Resources (HR) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) position supports the management of HR & WHS functions across Access Support Services. The HR & WHS Manager will be responsible for HR advisory, recruitment and retention, remuneration and benefits, culture and engagement, employee relations, training and development, workplace health and safety, legislative compliance, and policy and procedure development and review. The HR & WHS Manager will be a part of dynamic and growing organisation that continues to make a difference in the life of people living with a disability.

Key responsibilities:

The HR & WHS Manager reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for fulfilling the requirements of this position description.

WHS

· Develop and maintain a comprehensive WHS risk assessment register for the organisation

· Ensure organisational compliance with WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice

· Identify workplace hazards and compliance through inspections and audits

· Investigate WHS incidents and identify corrective action requirements

· Liaise with regulators (WorkSafe QLD) and WorkCover as required

· Coordinate and chair safety committees and worker consultation ensuring to communicate safety updates and alerts

· Champion safety improvement projects and a safety culture

Human Resources

Workforce planning:

· Undertake workforce planning requirements

· Develop and maintain position descriptions

· Responsible for end-to-end recruitment processes

· Responsible for creating and issuing employment contracts and maintaining employee staff

· Responsible for rostering and timesheets for payroll purposes

· Review salary structures and conduct benchmarking activities

· Manage remuneration reviews and incentives as required

· Monitor benefits, leave and payroll.

Employee Relations:

· Ensure compliance with relevant industry awards, employment standards and legislation

· Implement and maintain a succinct performance review process that supports organisational goals

· Provide advice and guidance to managers on employee matters and performance management

· Oversee investigations, grievances, conflict resolution and disciplinary matters

· Manage terminations, redundancies, and exits.

Training and development

· Identify training needs and ensure that training is fit for purpose

· Construct and implement professional development programs

· Develop, coordinate and deliver WHS & HR induction and training requirements

· Coach and mentor managers on people management requirements

Culture and engagement

· Create, implement and analyse staff feedback surveys

· Champion organisational values and culture

· Support diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives

· Responsible for rewards and recognition initiatives

· Support audit and accreditation requirements

Policy development and implementation

· Develop, review and maintain all policies, procedures and registers relevant to the above duties

· Monitor changes in legislation and update policies and procedures as required.

· Develop and maintain a comprehensive, clear and easy to follow work procedures

· Work and travel outside of span of ordinary working hours, including requirements for overnight stays in various locations, may be required when reasonably necessary.

· Other duties/tasks as directed from time to time
